BIAS becomes 10th partner in ECOMAT

We welcome BIAS - Bremer Institut für angewandte Strahltechnik as official 10th partner in the ECOMAT research and technology center!

The institute is a true long-standing part of Bremen's scientific landscape with a founding date in 1977. R&D activities focus on laser beam processes and systems for materials processing as well as optical metrology and optoelectronic systems from fundamental research to industrial application. Topics include joining processes (especially laser beam welding), micro-structuring, additive manufacturing (3D printing), cladding, process monitoring and control, geometric metrology, coherent optics, and nano-photonics.

The institute contributes long-time experiences and extensive equipment with a wide variety of laser beam sources and processing systems as well as a broad range of process sensors and measurement systems to the ECOMAT network: https://www.bias.de/en-gb/equipment

Acting Institute Director Peer Woizeschke expects a fruitful cooperation joining ECOMAT: "I am very excited that we will become part of the ECOMAT community and I expect a broad exchange between the partners in order to achieve common developments and benefits for Bremen and the local scientific community!", says Woizeschke.

Especially in the important area of large-scale production of components for the hydrogen-based future, the institute would like to support the ECOMAT partners and the local economy.
