Welcome to ECOMAT! With Airbus Defence and Space we welcome the ninth partner at the Bremen Research and Technology Center.

As a division of the European aerospace group, Airbus Defence and Space is responsible for the development and production of space systems, electronic components and telecommunications equipment such as military manned and unmanned aerial vehicles and military communications systems.

At ECOMAT, Airbus Defence and Space focuses on the development of advanced surface coatings. A major focus here is on qualifying an environmentally friendly, chromate-free corrosion protection for aluminum components. In addition, fiber-reinforced composites are specifically modified by the addition of fillers and the changes in properties quantified.

With the new partner, ECOMAT is strengthening its interdisciplinary and cross-industry approach and bringing researchers from the fields of lightweight construction, materials research and virtual product development closer together, among others in the aerospace industry.
